The Presidential Library is a national library of Russia opened in St. Petersburg by the President of Russian Federation on May 27, 2009. It stands out among the others due to electronic and digital copies of rare historical documents, books and archive materials about the history of Russian statehood and the Russian language as a state language of Russian Federation that were not previously available for the wide readership.
Providing equal access to information for all Russian citizens from all regions of the country is one the primary tasks of the Presidential Library. This is why the Library has established its branches in all the regions of Russia, but still its digital holdings are always available at a national Internet portal www.prlib.ru.
The main library center is located in the renovated historical building of the Holy Synod. The Library is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, and its information, multimedia and TV systems help to host large social, political and cultural events of the highest international level.
